1. Orininal from Turkey
2. Slave of Mohammad Ghori, also Governor of Mohammad Ghori.
3. 1206 AD - After the death of Mohammad Ghori, He became the master of Hindustan ruler of Delhi.
4. 1206 AD - Founded the "Slave Dynasty"
5. He constructed 2 Mosques : 

                                   i) Quwat-Ul-Islam ( Delhi )
                                   ii) Adhai-Din ka Jhanpra ( Ajmer, Rajasthan )

6. He also began the construction of  "Qutub Minar" ( Delhi ) in the honor of the famous Sufi Saint -  "Khwaja Qutubuddin Baktiyar Kaki" but 'Qutub Minar' was completed by his son-in-law Iltutmish.

7. For his generosity- he was given the title of "LAKH BAKSH" ( giver of Lakhs )
8. Aibak was a great Patron of learning and Patronised writers like:
                                        i) Hasn-Ul-Nizami-  Author of 'Taj-Ul-Massir' 
                                        ii) Fakhruddin - Author of  'Tarikh-i-Mubarak Sahi'
9. He died in 1210 while playing POLO or CHAUGAN

QUTAB MINAR :---
  • Height- 73 meters ( 240 feet )
  • It was established along with Quwat-Ul-Islam Mosque in 1192 AD by Qutubuddin Aibak, first ruler of Delhi Sultanete. ( He only constructed the Basement )
  • ILTUTMISH - added 3 more stores to Qutub Minar ( 1220 ) - completed
  • Feroz Shah Tughlaq - ( 1369 ) The Minar top most store was damaged by lighting it in 1369 and rebuild it also added another store ( 4th to 5th store ) by him.
  • Qutub Minar - Mehrauli Area of Delhi part of UNESCO world Heritage site.
SHAMSUDDIN ILTUTMISH ( 1211-1236 AD ) - 25 years
1. Slave of Qutubuddin Aibak
2. Occupied the throne of DELHI in 1211 after remove / deposing ARAM BASKSHI
3. He made DELHI the Capital in place of LAHORE
4. He was a REAL FOUNDER of DELHI SULTANATE. He was a very efficient and capable ruler.
5. CHALISA / CHAHALGANI (Group of 40 )
  • 40 official nobility of slaves known as Chalisa
  • Distributed the power of CHALISA ( Presently Cabinet Minister or Council of Minister )
6. COINS - He introduce 2 Coins
  • Silver Coin ( TANKA )
  • Copper Coin ( JITAL )
7. IQTA SYSTEM - He introduce IQTA SYATEM and introduce reforms in civil Admistration and ARMY, which was now centrally paid and recruited.
8. He saved Delhi Sultanate from the wrath of CHENGIZ KHAN ( the Mongal Leader ) by refusing selter to Khawarizm Shah whom Chengiz was Chasing.
9. He patronised "Minhaj-us-Siraj" author of "Tabaqat-i-Nasiri"

RUKHUDDIN ( 1236 AD ) - 6 months
1. Son of Iltutmish
2. He crowned by his mother SHAH TURKAN after death of Iltutmish in 1236.
3. He was deposed by RAZIA daughter of Iltutmish when he was out of the Capital Curb a rebellion in AVADH against him.

RAZIA SULTAN ( 1236-1240 AD ) - 4 years
1. She was the 1st and only MUSLIM lady who ever ruled India.
2. Through Iltutmish had nominated RAZIA as the Successor the nobles placed on the throne.
3. 1236- Razia got RUKHUDDIN and ascended the throne.
4. RAZIA was popular aming people but was not acceptable to the nobles and theologians.
5. YAKUT - was the slave of Razia Sultan.
6. Revolt against Razia - The governor of Multan, Lahore, Hansi, Badaun openly revolted.
7. ALTUNIA- Governor of the BHATINDA ( Punjab ) revolt against Razia.
8. Razia accompanied by YAKUT march against ALTUNIA.
9. Finally Altunia murder Yakut and imprisoned Razia.
10. Later on Razia married to Altunia and both of them marched towards DELHI
11. 1240 - Razia became Victim of Conspiracy and also assassinated near KAITHAL ( Haryana )
12. DELHI - Controversial
13. Razia and Altunia anter their marriage marched on Army towards Delhi aiming to dethrone BAHRAM SHAH ( 1240-1242 )
14. BAHARAM KHAN was the 3rd son of Iltutmish - brother of Razia
15. The Troops accompanying the couple abandoned them and both Razia and Altunia were killed 14th Oct. 1240.
16. ALTUNIA / RAZIA- was childhood lover.
17. Some believe that because of help of Altunia Razia become ruler but Altunia could not able to forgive the closeness of YAKUT and Razia that why attack DELHI and imprisoned Razia.

BAHRAM SHAH (1240-1242 AD ) - 2 years
1. 1240 after Razia, Iltutmish 3rd son BAHRAM SHAH was put on the throne by powerful Turkish Council - CHALISA
2. He was consider only as de jure ruler while Naib-e-mamlakat ( the regent ) was the de facto ruler.
3. BAHRAM SHAH lost his life after his failed attempt assert his authority once on the throne.

MASUD SHAH ( 1242-1248 AD ) - 6 years
1. He was son of RUKNUDDIN.
2. He was consipired by Balban and Malik-e-Jahan ( Mother of Nasiruddin Mahamud ) and removed withdraw from the throne and established Nasiruddin Mahamud as a new Sultan.

NASIRUDDIN MAHAMUD (1246- 1266 AD ) - 20 years
1. He was son of Iltutmish and Malik-e-Jahan.
2. He was known as DARVESI KING as he was very pious and noble.

GHIYASUDDIN BALBAN (1266-1287 AD ) - 21 years
1. 1266 come to the throne and rule 21 years.
2. Broke the power of CHALISA and restore the prestige of the Crown.
3. Appointed SPIES ( spy system)
4. Military Dept.- "Diwan-i-Arz"
5. He create a strong Military Army to deal with internal disturbances and external aggression like Mongols.
6. Introduce the policy "Iron and Blood" nobody can oppose the king.
7. He give himself title of "Zil-i-Ilahi" ( shadow of God )
8. He introduce PIBOS AND SIJDA for normal from of -
                        i) PAIBOS- Kissing the feat of Monarch
                        ii) SIJDA- Prostration before the Monarch ( Sarthaney Pranam )
9. He destroy the MEWATI RAJPUT BRIGANDAGE in DOAB where forest were cut and forts build.
10. In his last days Balban overtook the Sultanate affairs due to death of his eldest and most loving son MUHAMMAD and rebellion by his closest and most love slave TUGHRIL.
11. 1287 - MOHAMMAD died fighting with Mongolians.
12. TUGHRIL - was captured and beheaded.

KAIQUBAD ( 1287-1290 AD ) - 3 years
1. Grandson of Balwan was seated on throne on 1287 by FARUDDIN
2. FAKRUDDIN- was the kotwal of Delhi who assumed high Political Authority during last day of Balban.
3. FAKRUDDIN was killed by Khilji family ( Noble ) which ended the SLAVE DYNASTY beginning of KHILJI DYNASTY at DELHI THRONE
